This is what the previous owner posted on EBay about the Ghia.

1965 White Coupe (Driveable Project Car)
Vehicle Description
I purchased this 1965 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia nearly three years ago as a daily driver/project car. I had owned two Super Beetles in college and had always wanted a Ghia. I had gotten a nice bonus from work and this sharp little Ghia was for sale locally, so I bought her. From Day 1, she was very drivable, but had lots of potential to be a serious custom street car. The Ghia already had a 12V conversion done and was fitted with a late model 1600cc engine with single-port heads and center mounted one-barrel carb, so I did a lot of the little upgrades like front sway bar, rear camber compensator, genuine Berg locking shifter, capacitive discharge ignition system, Compufire electronic ignition, new exhaust header and hide-a-way muffler, and 1.4 ratio rocker arms. I had planned to install dual Weber 40 IDF carbs (also for auction on eBay), but never got around to installing dual port heads. After about a year of daily driving, the transmission went south and I had a new pro-street transmission and clutch installed, in preperation for the day I'd get the engine upgraded. Then I changed jobs, got married, moved to Austin, bought a new Passat (also for auction on eBay), parked the Ghia in the garage and never found time to do any more work on it. My wife and I are selling everything to travel North American in our new 87 Volkswagen Vanagon Westfalia camper, so the Ghia needs to be someone else's project now.
Vehicle Condition
For it's age, this Ghia is great unrestored condition. The nose is perfect and has never been dented. There's some scattered rust spots where the paint has been scratched and a small hole on the right rear rocker, but no structural rust that I've found. The frame is solid, clean, and straight. Headliner is perfect and appears original, as does the glass. The previous owner installed cheap window tinting and carpet, both of which are showing some wear. The paint is fair and looks good with a nice coat of wax. Currently, the Ghia won't start, but I believe that is due to a dead battery. It's been sitting in the garage for over a year since I last drove it and at that time it started and ran fine to take us to breakfast. The transmission and clutch are brand new with about 300 miles on them. Rear seat appears to be original and is in very good condition. Front seats are aftermarket and also in very good condition. The rear lid needs to be propped up, but that's fairly common for this age. All the badges are intact, but the rear "Ghia" is missing it's "a".
After several e-mail's we decided on our top bid and came in a couple hundred dollars under. When we went to pick it up the Ghia was not quite in the shape we had thought. After some discussion we agreed upon a decent price and with a trailer (Thanks Kory!) and borrowed pickup (Thanks Wayne!!) towed it back to Nebraska. We actually picked up the Ghia in Irving Texas, he had driven it up from Austin the day before. It has been fun so far and we are looking forward to getting her back on the road again!
